It takes just 20 minutes to sanitize your pool. Then three days later you add My Natural Pool and soon the harsh chemicals are gone creating a water environment you’ll love–we guarantee it!
Instructions for sanitizing chlorinated or salt-treated pools:
NOTE: Instructions below are based on a 20,000 gal. pool and My Natural Pool users should round pool sizes up to the next 5,000 gal. increment, i.e. an 18,000 gal. pool should be treated as a 20,000 gal. pool, a 32,000 gal. pool should be treated as at 35,000 gal. pool.
- Remove all leaves and debris from pool and baskets, then backwash pool filtration system.
- Turn pool filtration system to run continuous, i.e. take stops off (For initial conversion filter will run for a total of 6 days).
- Adjust the pH to 7.5 to 7.6 (TO DECREASE pH, add 1/3 cup muriatic acid diluted into 1/3 plastic pail of water, carefully toss water into deepest part of pool away from walls, then repeat every 2+ hrs. until you achieve the correct pH . . . TO INCREASE pH add (1/2 cup of baking soda pool every two hours to achieve the correct pH)
- IF THERE IS ANY VISIBLE ALGAE you must sweep the entire pool (all sides and bottom) each day for all three days while the pool is being sanitized. If your pool has no visible algae you can skip this step.
- After pH is adjusted with NO visible algae add 16 oz. of Algaecide 60 (active ingredients is 60% and the product should be light brown in color, DO NOT use a green or blue algaecide. Active ingredient is Polyoxyethylenedimethylimino commonly referred to as Poly 60. IF THERE IS VISIBLE ALGAE ANYWHERE IN THE POOL then add 32 oz. of Poly 60 for a 20,000 gal. pool. Fill plastic pail 1/3 full of water then add Poly 60 and carefully toss it into deepest part of pool.
- Immediately after adding the Algaecide 60 you should add 8 one pound packets of Super Shock or 10 lbs. of regular shock to start. Thereafter check each morning for the next two days to be certain a minimum Chlorine level of 3.0 ppm for ALL THREE DAYS is achieved! The first day your pool should be over 7 ppm of chlorine, second day over 5 ppm, then beginning of third day you want a minimum of 4.5 to 5 ppm. Pools generally lose 1.5 to 2 ppm of chlorine per day.
- Keep filtration system running, check Chlorine level daily and add shock as needed. End of 3rd day you should backwash your filter to get any nasty chlorine residue and other contaminates out of your filtration system. This should be 5+ hours after 3rd sweep assuming algae was initially visible.
Congratulations! Your pool is now fully sanitized, and you can add My Natural Pool!
Note: No person or pet should use the pool for 3 to 5 days during the sanitization process. After three days we recommend waiting until the chlorine level has dropped below 2 ppm. For private pools, chlorine will usually completely disappear in 5 to 7 days. Public pools using My Natural Pool as a stabilizer should still sanitize their pools to achieve the full benefit from MNP.
Instructions for treating with My Natural Pool:
- Initial treatment – Add 7 Cups of My Natural Pool(per 20,000 gal. pool).
- A) Leave filtration system running for three days.
- B) Cloudiness may occur an indication the product is working. Generally disappears within two days of continued filtration. Occasionally some pools may benefit a Pool Clarifier (Super Clarifiers not recommended). Thereafter “MNP” pools remain very clear however a pool clarifier may also be used from time to time.
- C) This initial MNP Treatment will often lower the pH from the previous level of 7.5 or 7.6 pH to 7.0 to 7.2 which happens to be the ideal pH level for My Natural Pool.
- When lowering pH remember to use ONLY 1/3 cup of Muriatic Acid every 2+ hours to maintain the proper balance in your pool. Pools that are 30,000 gal’s can be treated with 1/2 cup of muriatic acid every 2+ hrs.
- New pools or re-gunited pools expect pH bounce for one year, lower pH to 7.0 weekly.
- Never allow pH to be lower than 6.9 since acidic water is hard on equipment. Use baking soda (1/2 cup at at a time) to increase pH quickly.
- MONTHLY MNP TREATMENT, we recommend using the 1st or 15th of each month (mark your calendars!) to treat your pool each month. After the initial treatment you will add 2 cups of My Natural Poolfor a 20,000 gal. pool.
- During the swimming season it is important to check and adjust pH weekly. The ideal pH for MNP is 7.2. Pools that experience pH bounce or a rapid pH increase it is best to lower pH to 7.0 weekly.
The sanitizing process is repeated each spring, ideally two weeks prior to the swimming season. When MNP is added year-round, only the monthly two cups is required.
Note: Water from municipalities is often loaded with algae, chlorine, and even cryptosporidium. While algae can’t be seen until it blooms, the preventative step above will help ensure your pool remains easy to maintain throughout the swimming season.
